The implementation of the ecodesign has not been reached companies worldwide. One of the main causes of it is the gap between the eco-oriented and product-oriented research. This paper presents a systematic approach to introduce existing ecodesign methods and tools into the product development process based on the use of a reference model, which is a way to structure activities in a business process. In a reference model the related knowledge is also represented in the activities and methods needed to perform them. A bibliographical survey is carried out to address the existing ecodesign tools to integrating into the reference model.
