Descrição:
This paper presents a structured model to help the user choose the mostappropriate statistical technique to solve problems relating to the productdevelopment process. Starting from a well-defined problem, the model helps theuser convert the problem into statistical objectives. Based on those objectives, thedecision model then defines a sequence of structured questions whose responseslead to the selection of the statistical technique. The sequence of questions issupported by examples, detailed explanations of the concepts involved, links tosites associated with the case, and a glossary of statistical terms. Statisticaltechniques are support tools for the New Product Development Process (NPD) andare used in various activities of this process. The main result expected from the useof the model is the dissemination of the application of statistical techniques duringthe NPD process in companies, especially small and medium companies, wherethis type of support is most lacking. To enable companies to use and test thestructured model, a decision support system will be developed for free access onthe Internet.
